2) Approximately how much would it cost if it's made from a) gold, or b) silver?

Most of the shops in the gold souk will do it. Cost depends on gold or silver. They will give you a price when you go in. I have given these necklaces to family members of all ages and all liked them very much. They are a unique gift from the region.
