Why has it been a constant hassle for one to pick up a job in Qatar. What could be the problem? Is it probable that it could be a taboo to talk about it, yet it is necessary so that other job seekers know exactly what to do to avoid pitfalls that will make them lose potential jobs

Ben, As long as the sky's colour remains blue things won't change on our earth , for the Almighty isn't affected by the decision makers here . He has His priority list , our name is definitely there may be a bit at down, just we have to wait patiently for our own turn. 2ndly in His court we can't demand as per our capability , He won't entertain that , you know why , because poor souls like me who can't compete with the sharper guys would die hungry then. ......................... His wider plan encompasses all of us , them & us ... including those narrow-minded ones ... .... Sun , 07.09.2014, 11.45 hrs ...
Lee, while the element of nationality does exist here in the selection of a candidate for a job vacancy, there is always a ray of light present. Not all people in the position of hiring are narrow-minded. I was once hired at a company where the person who interviewed me was of different nationality and even religion. He was a highly educated person and as such looked at things from a very wide angle. There are such people around who look to the benefit of the company for which they work. It is not just darkness everywhere. Just keep you spirits high, continue with your efforts, and leave the rest to your luck, and God.
Lee and Molten, you guys are actually attesting to the fact that here in Qatar, connection counts more than qualification. Meaning that there is discrimination in the job market. Job seekers are constantly favored and disfavored because of skin color, where they hail from, religion etc. I have absolutely no problem with a qualified person creating a strong network or connection around him/her. In fact, that is a wisest thing to do if you are unemployed or eyeing a better opportunity.
However, the power of connection has been abused seriously by the government and private sector. Lots of ill-qualified people work in this country while some qualified people are jobless or underpaid. Few blacks will compare salaries with fellow whites, same as few Asians will compare salaries with Americans and Britons. Qatar is one of the most multicultural countries in the world but it irks me why many company administrators cannot sustain a conversation in English or worse still cannot speak English at all. It's sickening. I wonder if this is good for a developing country with such great ambitions.
Molten, Immense thanks. Thou art full of sage. Your response comes across to me as though you were actually talking to me live. You equally opt to be so consoling and gentle. You are not known to me, but you must be a nice person. May others learn this from you. Finally, I agree with you completely. Thanks for the encouragement Molt and best regards
Lee, Agree , We must admit there would be a huge difference between the usual method of trying as a stranger & the favoured channel where even your CV is printed from the company's printer where you apply by a very dear person known to you . In the first case your papers fight but in the second case somebody's tongue fights for you ........... so imagine who would win .... a paper or a tongue ........ ! ..... I wish your dreams come true ..... Sat, 06.09.2014, 11.30 hrs
Thanks much Molten, I get you 5 on 5. All the same, It truly seems to me there are vacancies (innumerable indeed), but you either have to be from a particular nationality to be eligible for certain jobs. It is clearly put in the advert and there is no denying it. At the moment, I am wondering aloud why these filters on potential candidates. If this does not raise any eyebrows to anyone then there is something someone is not saying.
