work visa with family

Hi

I got offer from a company who is arranging visa for myself so I can come into Qatar and start employment with them. According to them they will then apply for my residence permit once I am in Qatar and once I got residence permit put into my passport then they can apply for my family visa and then my family can join me in Qatar.

My question is, can my family not come with me in the first place with me when I am going to Qatar. In other words, can company not apply visa for my family as they are now applying for visa?

Thanks

4-5-6 months. That would be the negative deciding factor for many, if not all, Americans. That and schooling. Can we see decisions being made here? Sometimes I'm convinced that Qatar carefully selects only the most compliant, abuse-tolerant people to come and work.

Qatarisun, why don't you think this way How come everyone else able to understand and you still trying to understand tech2010 question. Surely that shows that UK national has convayed his message to everyone else except Qatarisun. What is the big deal?

Mandi, sometimes it takes even more than 4-8 weeks, especially considering latest tightening of the rules. 6 months bank statement has been a requirement for the family visa for ages, but immigration officers could waive it in some cases, while lately they are pretty much strict over this requirement. Hence, sometimes one has to wait 4-5-6 months.

But I am wondering how you could understand the OP's post. It was so confusing, especially last "question":

"My question is, can my family not come with me in the first place with me when I am going to Qatar. In other words, can company not apply visa for my family as they are now applying for visa?

I got completely lost in this UK national's question... LOL... even using my other languages' "logic" couldn't help me and to figure out what does he want to know.. Good for you :):)

I think it's a matter of the company being willing to transfer a tourist visa into a residency permit. I know the gov't somewhat frowns on it. If your company has enough clout or a good HR department they will allow - and pay for - your family to come with you. Certainly in the US universities the faculty would not stand for waiting 4-8 weeks for their families to come!

Yes but is this new immigration law or company just playing with words as I know families who traveling together.

Also, I would not pay for family airfares at this point plus accomodation, I will let company to arrange all this. Sooner or later family will join anyway so then best to wait then.

Hi. I have similar questions and am glad to get answers from here. Yet the family can join with you under visit visa on arrival for UK/American nationals and such. However, will the company pay for the family airfares at this point? or on your own pocket?

tech2010, If your company is not will to issue visa to your family then as you guys are UK national then the alternative is that your family can join on Visit Visa which is given to UK national on arrival. Once your Resident permit is done you can transfer the visit visa to family visa.

Hope all goes well with your move!

I asked this question to the company and they replied that once they got residence permit put into my passport they will then apply for family visa (as per Qatar Immigration Laws)so this will take may be one month then my family may join me.

Just to let you know, me and my family has same nationality (UK).

Many companies like the company I work for also issue visa to Family members joining the New Employee. The family visa is then transferred under the Employers sponsorship.

So answering your question, yes it is possible for you and your family to come to Qatar at the same time, but that will depend on the company you will be working for if they are willing to issue visa to your family along with your entry visa.

This is a new rule, that the employee come first and then only when he/she has their RP can they apply for a family/joining spouse RP. It depends on your nationality whether your wife can come in the mean time. But you will have to ask your company, they hold all the answers and all the cards, I'm afraid. This is Qatar!

Salaam,

I'm in a very similar position myself and was hoping for further clarity on whether me and my family could travel together. As it seems i would travel on my own and then once i have my RP, applying for theirs, which i hope doesn't take too long as i've read some accounts of people who have arrived in Qatar and it has taken upto 6 months to organise their family's RP and get them in the country too.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

i didn't get the question...

"My question is, can my family not come with me in the first place with me when I am going to Qatar. In other words, can company not apply visa for my family as they are now applying for visa?"

who are "they" that "are now applying for visa"? Your family? what type of visa they are applying for? And do you want or you don't want your family to come with you?

try again..
