Whatever happened to the Tourist Visa available at the Airport immigration office?

I went to the Airport Immigration office to apply for a Tourist Visa for my Father-In-Law. I was told that the visa application is no longer accepted at the Airport office and that I should go to the main immigration office in Gharraffa. In the main office, I was told that the Tourist Visa has been discotinued and the only option available is to apply for visit visa. This is a problem because
1) The visit visa is QR 200 compared to QR 100 for the Tourist visa
2) The visit visa needs a Sponsor letter (which is not a problem working for QP) but it is an avoidable hassle.

Just wanted to check if anyone has faced something similar or am I missing something?

if you want a hassle free process go to any hotel and they will take care of the rest, just give them your passport copy and passport copy of your father in law, wait for 3 days and you have a visa

ZD, if sponsor letter is not a problem, so I didn’t understand what the problem is? EXTRA QR100 for someone who you want to invite to Qatar?? What a nonsense.

Bisdak, no one can sponsor your friend. ZD is applying for visa for his FAMILY member. He can sponsor his family member. You cannot sponsor your friend. Your friend has to apply for the tourist visa through the Hotel, or whatever the requirements are for the tourist visas..

yes, the tourist visa is no longer available, either you apply for a visit visa or a hotel visa.
