As far as my knowledge goes, With a business visa , you have to exit the country after 84 days, and come in again. Not sure if its more, but it used to be 84. Now for a Work Visa, you dont need that, but will need to undergo the Medical and Finger and printing , and an Qatar ID will be issued to you and a residence permit (RP)stampted on your passport. You need to have an RP for almost anything in Qatar, like getting a telephone connection, buying a car, or opening a bank account, and also for bringing in your family. You can get a SIM card though with just a copy of your passport and visa. The main diffrence comes when you need to change jobs within the country. If you are on an RP, then you need to get an NOC from your current sponsor to change jobs, and in the event of you cancelling your RP, an automatic ban for two years is effected. you cannot enter qatar even on a visit visa for two years. You dont have that issue with a business visa, you can just exit the country and can come in on another sponsorship

With a business visa you can only carry out limited work, it is usually given to someone who is working for a non Qatari company, and flying in and out to do the work - consultants frequently. You also tend to get multiple entry, and so don't pay when you enter immigration as your business visa covers this - altho it confuses immigration when they see one.

You can't be employed here full time or take up 'residency' - so therefore you can't purchase alchol, buy a SIM card, get telephone set up, electricity etc etc.

If you intend to live and work in Qatar - you need RP

Hope this helps - pm me if you want more info

Visit visa is valid for three months only after that u have to exit and come back for another three months (If required) while work visa is valid for 1 year renewable for another year so on and so forth.

That website wasn't very helpful. I really want to know what the benefits of each one are. Like are there travel restrictions on one or the other. Can I not purchase alcohol with one but can with the other. Things like that. I haven't found a good website that lists the pros and cons.
