Hi everyone,

Me and my wife are currently working for almost 2 years now in the same company. I am under our company sponsor and my wife is under husband sponsor. Now our company is having stability issue here in Qatar so we are planning to look for a new job coz we don’t want to end up both jobless. Unfortunately our company is not giving NOC to employees. Our concern is it is possible for either/both of us to leave and look for new job here in Doha?

For all the QLers who has an idea, experience, etc. on this matter your response are very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your responses everyone, we really appreciate it.

@Tamerelnoby, garce; Does my wife also need an NOC to change job even if she’s under my sponsor?

@DoddPog; Our current employer is not sponsoring women(I don’t know the reason) that’s why I’m the one who sponsor her. But if she can find a new job and change the sponsorship from husband to new employer/sponsor, do you think afterwards she can apply for family visa? Is it possible for me to change sponsorship from my employer to family visa w/o NOC?

@holiday07; yeah it’s really hard when you don’t have any other options.

We are on the same boat. Me and some of my officemates had to downsized too, sadly I've here for only six months. Good thing, my company is giving me NOC and giving me time to look for a new job.

Try your best to ask your company to be considerate. Good luck to both us who are unfortunate victims of the economic recession.

I am just thinking aloud, but I am not sure about this option. Try to do this option or at least ask someone in-the-know if this can work out to your advantage, since I also understand your situation and your concerns at the present.

Here it goes, first check if your wife can transfer her sponsorship from you to her present employer/ sponsor. Then, she will not be under your sponsorship in the event that you loose your job. Then, if she qualifies, she can sponsor you instead or apply for family visa with your wife as your sponsor. Just check, maybe it would work. But like what I have said, I am not sure!!!

That's the disadvantage of having your wife under your sponsorship. Once you lose your job and company sponsorship - your wife loses hers too and all the benefits.

Not all company here issues NOC --very few and very seldom they would do that.

Since both of you will be cancelled (more or less), I don't believe there's a company that will take the risk to hire you.

Try to talk to your HR Chief and request for an NOC - either for you or for your wife. Explain the worst scenario in case both of you lose your job. It might work coz I heard incident like this and one is given NOC.

Try it..there's nothing to lose --- perhaps, little sense of pride, but kaliwali pride. What's at stake here is the future of your family.
