cities to explore: big cities: zurich, geneva,(bern, dont forget to rich all the way down to the old city, cus zytglogge will be waiting for you). lol.

tourist attraction:there are a whole lots of tourist attractions, depending on what you like. but try to also rich to interlaken, when you are in bern.

its very easy to visit lots of places in a week, because the distances are not too far. the longest will be from geneva to zurich thats 3 hours with the train. but if i were u , i would book a hotel in bern, cus its very central , from bern its easier to rich lots of places in between 1-2 hours. except if you are traveling south.

dont worry, you will find out lots good places. google and you will find lots of infos on where to go best.

people there could be either very very friendly, if you are lucky, or just very cold if ...

thats why i advice you to go when the weather is a bid warm , like in the spring or so, then people mood are also better than when its cold doing the winter.

gd. luck

just take ur credit card with u and make sure that the limit is above CHF 3000.-

you may need less then that. but if one travel on holidays its always good to able to be afford what ever they may like.

i can make an example for you .

if you travel on the train from zurich to bern, round trip is around CHF100.- =(QAR 350)per person.

rent a car wll be around 120- 200+ per day.

remember gasoline is way more expensive than in qatar. you may need at least chf70-90.- to have a full tank

your best bet is to get a (GA) General abo. for a week. this can take you all over switzerland, on any buses tram or train.

eating at a good restaurant would cost around

CHF80-120 per person.

you can also eat at any take away or so called street food which will be around chf15-30 per person.

as for shopping, depends on which brand you like.

make sure you buy some shoes from there cus you will never find better shoes here than there , so when you are there, make use of your trip and get some good shoes. :0)

any further info let me know.

hi midaz, its very clear that as of dec.12, switzerland officially bacame member of the schengen countries, meaning you can enter switzerland with a schengen visa. so as you stated before if you get a schengen visa , you should be able to enter switzerland.

ps.

take enough cash with you if you really wanna enjoy the time there. dont go now, wait for the spring and you will have more fun.

good luck and save trip.

Mid az you right man...

I advice you to go to Netherlands Embassy in Salam Tower near West Bay and get Schengen Visa.

fefee,

From ur post i gather since schengen is accepted now, there is no need to obtain swiss specific visa.

One can get a schengen from French or any other embassy here in Doha and visit Switzerland on that visa. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Foreign nationals who wish to enter Switzerland must observe the entry and customs regulations. In any case, they must be in possession of a valid travel document recognized by the Swiss authorities. In addition, a visa is required in certain cases.

Detailed information is available from the Federal Office for Migration (FOM), Swiss representations abroad and the competent cantonal authorities.

On Friday 12 December 2008 the Schengen association agreement of Switzerland was fully implemented. Since that date Schengen visas will be accpeted to enter Switzerland.
