Visa extension for parents/mother

Does any one have the latest information about the visa extension rules for parents (mother in my case);

I had brought my mother to Qatar last year and she stayed here for 6 months; But this year after 3 months of her stay, they denied any further extension. Since the visa was expiring on the same day, I requested for an extension for another week. Only after getting the confirmed travel ticket the authorities extended her visa for 7 more days.

Not sure what will happen during her next visit after 3 months.

Any bit of info from people who are facing similar situation, would be really valuable for me.
