tourist visa

I'll be having a stopover at Doha airport so I'm planning to get a visa to see the city.
I've read from other threads that I need a credit card or I can buy a e card there.
I don't have a credit card so I'd like to know if I can still buy an e card and how much it costs.
Can someone explain how the e card works too? I'm wondering if it is like a debit card, and can I use it after leaving qatar? or in other places to buy things when I'm in qatar?
How about prepaid cards obtained from other countries? I have a one from Bank of China (Hong Kong), and they say the card can be used at places where a visa card is accepted. Any idea if I can use it at the airport?
"With the added value you are ready to shop with confidence worldwide at any merchant who accepts VISA card for payment."
Thanks a lot!

actually a correction on my part - the e-card may cost 50 QR since when i arrived in Doha, the immigration staff manning the passport counter were actually nice enough to give me a e-card for free (which i then proceeded to reload at the QNB for 100 riyals). Maybe if u smile a bit (or act lost, or both) u'll get the same favour from them!

so all I need to get the visa is just 100 Rials, nothing more?

I read from somewhere else that the e card costs about 50 rials, are you sure about that? even for my prepaid card I need to pay a fee to issue it, and I don't really want to use it since it cannot be reloaded =(

but anyway thanks for your reply!

U can buy a e card from the Qatar National Bank branch located right next to the passport checking counter upon arrival in Doha. All you have to do is to load it up with the cash required to pay for your visa (assuming your visa from your home country is granted upon arrival). The e card itself costs nothing.

The e card works like a prepaid card where you load it up with cash and pay for stuff at official places like government offices (ie renewing driving licences) etc. Otherwise you should be able to use your VISA card anyway if you have one
