Resident Visa for Parents???

Hi I am in Qatar since Oct last year............was working in Oman earlier.........i just need to understand that getting resident visa for parents is a challenge here? Being in Oman it took me just 10 days to get RP for my parents..............but here I am confused........

No RP for parents, visit visa extendable upto 6 months.

I guess they don't issue RP to Parents. Only Visit Visa which can be valid for 6 months.
