i am here in qatar by a family visit visa for my brother. he is working here 2 years ago in an engineering company. can i have residence here under his sponsorship????

NO. However you might be able to extend your visit visa for 6 months...you do have to pay some $$$.....after whihc you have to leave the country and not return for two months....this is true for US passport holders.
