Parents' Vacation

larryd
By larryd

Based on my experience as a reporter here, there have been a series of complaints from many people who are unable to travel out of Doha for one reason or the other during summer especially, that as much as they wanted their parents to join them for vacation here, they have been unable to do so, thanks to a ceiling on age of sponsored parents by the Qatari government. I will like members who have been refused visas for their parents between 65-75 years old by the immigration department to share their views on the law banishing parents in that age range from coming into Qatar.
I want them to share the reasons cited by the immigration and what they would have achieved if such parents were allowed in.

In India/Pakistan you have to pay. Qatar medical is free.

"quality of doctors/ medical practitioners are much better in India"

I beg to differ. I am a veteran of 4 Major surgeries at HMC. They even flew an specialized doctor from UK (few cases including me)at state's expence :(

it's the only logical reason. Wrong policy but what can we do?

the medicals infrastrcture may be better in Qatar but quality of doctors/ medical practitioners are much better in India/ Pak. my friends from INdia, Pak go back to their country if they have major medical treatment to do. (???)

"I once read an article in a local paper. One reason for that is because most expatriates bring their oldies here for medical treatment and the Govt. doesn't want to put on more pressures w/ their medical facilities"

Yes this was hugely exployted by Indians & Pakistanis. so Gov. had to put an end to it. now a genuine traveller also bannned thanks to all those suckers

Saudi has similar one..

One reason for rejecting is that the "oldies" may be a burden on the state regarding medical etc.

Another is that Asians tend to try and make their parents/ relatives stay permanetly or for longer periods once they arrive in country..

Its just like any car of 80's model, it may need alot of spare parts replacement and fixing as it may not be running properly?

I once read an article in a local paper. One reason for that is because most expats bring their oldies here for medical treatment and the Govt. doesn't want to put on more pressures w/ their medical facilities.

Understandable reasons though!
