Out of the country - family residence visa

Hi,

Good evening.

I’d like to inquire about the maximum time that my family w/ residence visa can stay out of Qatar. They went back to my home country last month of June 2011. I believe they should be back after 6 months (so their visa will not be nullified), however, they need to extend their stay in Philippines until March 2012 (due to emergency matters). I heard that there’s a way to extend the 6 month time to one year, but they said I need to pay a fee.

Can anyone assist for the procedure on how to do this? And if there is, where and when will I suppose to apply the extension? Some friends told me that I will apply it 1 month before they will go back here (which is Feb because they will coming back on March 2012). But I just want to confirm, to anyone who had tried this, if this is really the way.

Thank you very much for anyone who will answer my inquiry.

God Bless.

Hi everyone.

To abpineda1800, please do tell us how did you go about the process? I am also in the same predicament because my kids are still studying in the Philippines and they will return to Doha on April 2014 after this school year. They exited last June 2013 and the RP's are valid till May 2014. Please do enlighten us here. Did you go to the immigration before 6 mos of your family's supposed return date or did you apply for the return visa extension weeks prior to their return to Qatar? That is granting their RP's are still valid and they did not stay out of Qatar for 1 year? Is it required to show proof of reason why they cannot come back to Qatar within 6 mos?

Thanks very much

Hi, just want to share with you some lesson learned on the subject mentioned.

Previous years rule was to apply an extension before the expiration of the first 6 months. It will be extended for another 6 months...all you have to do is pay QR 500

Since last year the process was changed. If the RP holder whose out of the country decided to return please make sure that he stayed out of the country less than a year. You need to apply the return visa application within 2 weeks before his intended flight. This is a strict rule of MOI nowadays.

Mushkilah if the RP holder stayed out of the country for more than a year...The captain will ask for so many supporting documents. In the end the RP will be cancelled regardless of its validity.
