Obtaining a Visa for my girlfriend

Hi, i am in the early negotiation period of a new job offer and would like to know if it is possible for a Brazilian national to get a visa to enter Qatar and work.

I am a UK national and have been offered a job in Qatar and would love my girlfriend to be able to come with me. She only has a brazilian passport and would need to look for work when she arrives. She is a trained teacher and teaches English and Portuguese as a second language.

if anyone has any knowledge or tips they could pass on it would be much appreciated.

many thanks

thanks for all you advice everyone. One last question. What is the job market like for female language teachers out there? anyone know? ive heard they hold education in very high regard and are making education, business and science the backbone of their development rather than tourism as in dubai.

Rishimba was kidding.. :)

crazyape, as someone mentioned here, every expat has to be sponsored either by the company or by the Family member. Unfortunately, in this part of the world "Girlfriend" or even your "common-in-law" isn't your Family member.. whoever advises you to issue a Business visa for her, basically adise you to violate the law. As business visa is supposed to be issued for the "BUSINESS" purpose, not for the "girlfriend" reason.

The best way is either to find a job for her while she is still out of qatar.. or simply to marry her.. then you will take her under your sponsorship.. The least you can do is to issue a tourist visa for her through the hotel. It is valid for 2 weeks, and I believe, can be extended for another 2 weeks.

find a job for her, let her come on employers sponsorship, & live happily together...the easy way!

most marriage certificate have to be attested by the Qatari Embassy where the ceremony took place. It's not "just a piece of paper"

downloading fake marriage certificate could lead u to severe problem, so please dont dare to do that, more over 2 witnessess will be needed by the religious court for attestation of the marriage certificate... they are able to know whats fake n whats original.

dont try to hit ur head to the wall...

get your girl friend to send her CV to some of the schools here. The school year is coming to an end and many teachers will start to leave and won't be coming back.

As far as I know, there isn't an issue with Brazilian visas, but don't take the chance, let her apply for and secure a job first, its way more stable:-)

Here is the link to QL's school information:-)

I have no idea how up to date the email addresses or telephone numbers are, but at least if she has the school name she can google them and get the current info:-) Hope it helps.

haha, maybe im being naive but not sure what the 'other' reason is for bring her. no its all above board i can assure you.

first, find a job/company/employer for her that would give her a working visa so you need not to get any tourist/visit/business visa.

I hope you're not bringing her for something else. I don't want to sound rude but some people who post in QL have "some other intentions" on bringing their gf/bf here in Doha. (I'm just being honest.)

Moreso, i hope you understand that you cannot live together here if you're not married, it's illegal here. (well, some managed to do so.)

Good luck.

thanks for the reply jamos. do you know how long a tourist visa lasts for? is it possible to get her in on one of these while she looks for a job, once she finds one would she then need to apply for a business visa? i presume there are no major problems with brazilians entering qatar?

1. Find a job for her.

2. Apply her for a tourist or business visa. Try if your company can arrange the things for her.

3. Marry her!
