The UK will introduce a new system for processing visa applications from September 4, 2007. As per the new procedures, all applicants will need to provide at the Visa Application Centre (VAC) their biometrics data rather than applying in person at the British Embassy, said Bharat Joshi, Regional UK Visa Director, UKvisas, The Gulf states and Iran, here yesterday.

I hadn't read the article fully when I posted this and now realise it is for people wanting a Visa to go TO the UK, not FROM the UK.

going back to UK for xmas, and my visa expired in october ... need to apply before then. So will have to ask around about this ...
