I am currently working here in Qatar i have beeen a direct hire from Manila. they gave me a Work Visa duration of 3 Months, Single Entry and i Arrived in Doha on May 24, 2009. Now, i did not like my Employers/Company policy and treatment, i want to go back to Philippines but they are witholding me and telling that i cannot leave the country.i checked the Validity of my Visa:09/10/2009 and Issued Date : 12/04/09, so does it means that even thought i arrived here on May 24,2009 and in August 24, 2009 is my 3rd month, w/out Medical... can they still withold me up to 09/10/09 ???

Please help i need your advice...

mhabar, if you are holding a working visa, after 3 months if your company did not process the working permit, the penalty is only 10 QR/day not five hundred

ok, if that's the case...as I have said, write in a piece of paper all your grievances then have it translated in arabic for filing of complain at the labor office, call the POEA Office and ask if my opinion is correct or they might have a more effective idea.

The employer will pay the fines incurred, and will have fines for not processing your medical and such on time as stipulated by the immigration department as this should be started 1 week after your entry.

Go to your embassy, if they cant advise you then you can go to the labour department or the human rights department near landmark. ____________________________________________________

if you want to leave, buy a ticket then ask for your passport and exit permit

you can leave as long as you don't have any debts on banks here and also you might require to buy your own ticket,

it happened to me in dubai, the paking manager and I had an argument about salary so I resigned after 21 days only, after that I forced them to give me my passport and salary for 21 days then khalas, Im now back here in duha

I told them if they will not give me my passport and salary, I will seek the help of the labor department

if you want to file a complaint in the labor department, you have to make a letter saying the details of your leaving then go to a translation office to have it translated into arabic, then file it at the labor office.....attached with it the contract that you signed

but i think the company should pay for the daily penalty of QR500, if they still try to extend me after my 3 months working Visa expires ??

does that mean i have to court if they did not sent be back on Aug. 24,2009 ??? coz that's the Expiry date of my 3 Months Working Visa here in Qatar, i paid for my Ticket to come here, and i will pay my ticket also goin' back to Manila..

...your embassy and they will help you with the proceedings. You company is holding you on the grounds had they had spend money to get you here- Visa+Ticket cost and they want you to work till it is recovered. This is illegal and can be challenged in the labour court but you will need your embasay's backing.
