My daughter and I were currently on a family visit visa.. We are also planning to transfer it to Residence permit/family visa by next week. I will have my job probably by 1st week of april.. How much are we going to pay for the RP? And also, the company that i'll be working with agreed to stay under my husband sponsorship. What are the requirements to get a working permit? Thanks a lot and God bless..

hello there..

if you are hired by a private company, below are the requirements in getting a work permit:

1st - you have to have your degree certificates and nbi clearance (from phils) authenticated by our embassy & foreign affairs here in qatar..

2nd - have these documents translated into arabic (asian in sofitel is strongly recommended). also ask them to prepare a "no objection letter" (they will require your's and your husband's qatar id)

3rd - submit these documents to chamber of commerce after you have it translated (not sure what's the name of the area but it is near holiday villa hotel).

4th - take all these documents along with the other documents (coming from your employer) + passport, visa & qatar id copy (you & hubby) + no objection letter (arabic signed by hubby) + colored background photos (3)

to LABOR DEPARTMENT (near Subway, Muntazah)- be sure to be there as early as you can! ..hope everything's covered...

5th - Labor dept will then give you a letter to be submitted to CID in Azizia (and all the documents above to be attached) to apply for POLICE CLEARANCE. They'll be giving you a form that you need to bring to LIBRARY/TYPING STORE to be answered in ARABIC.

6th - Police Clearance usually takes 20 days after submission. Once it is ready after the given release date, you may now take it again to LABOR DEPT to get the card. Here you need to have ATM to pay the fee around (QAR 500.00/yr). Then you'll get the card - your WORK PERMIT.

**If I have missed some details, Im sure the ladies in LABOR DEPT will be helpful (just be nice and always smile)..

BUT.. if you are employed by GOVT companies.. like QP and all, you don't need to go through LABOR DEPARTMENT.

The company will give you their cover letter + all the documents in no. 4 above, and you may go straight to CID for POLICE CLEARANCE..
