Loud exhaust sound from a sportcar, is it agains the law???
I have a sport car which his exhaust sounds a bit loud as it came from the showroom. He's still using his original muffler, but the sound is rough like a Lamborghini/Corvette. Maybe because of the engine is different compare to other car (my engine is a rotary engine) so he produce a rough sound. Now I'm confused, will policeman catch me because of the rough sound? How should I explain the policeman that the car was already produce such a rough sound since I buy it brand new from the showroom? Should I make a Police Report to make it clear so every time a policeman stop me I can explain him based on the Police Report? Please advise..
strange... i've never experienced that...when i hit the gas my car screams like a mother!!! and yet no one told me anything...why should they do anyways?!?!? too many qataris own fast cars that makes loud sound!!!!!
Yup, my car is an RX8.. And only less people know regarding this kind of engine in Qatar as so far I know only 3 units RX8 left in Qatar and one of them is already 'dead' in Musheireb Flat 2. It is very difficult to explain to Arabic policeman especially if their English was so bad. So I think the best idea is better go to traffic police station and make a report regarding this, hoping that they can give me some letter explaining the condition of my car that already have a loud sounds since coming from the showroom. So if a policeman stop me in the street because of the exhaust sound then I just show him the police report, better then explain them in English that they will not understand. So what do you guys think?
Hi,
I had exhaust on my Hyundai Coupe V6 that made it louder and more aggressive than a ford mustang with an exhaust on it.
My car was taken from me and parked at Abou Hamour impound for 90 days (3months) with the windows rolled down during July, August and September.
Your choice mate. But my car was in bad condition when i received it!

rotary engine?
wow! you got rx-7 or rx-8? I always wanted to have one of 'em...
don't mind the sound if it is coming from the engine... you can tell/show the police that it's stock.
OIC, if not from Qatar then Angelo's suggestion is good.
I would ask the salesperson you bought the car from. And if stopped by the police, I'd refer him to the salesman / showroom office I bought the car from. Why should you go through extra trouble at your own expense?
/Unless the said salesman does not entertain your concerns post sale - but then (although almost non-existent here) you can try to press for proper customer service, saying something like he will lose repeat business, not to mention your recommendation to your friends for additional business, etc.
Off my head, wow, why would you want to silence the sound.
You are right, loud sound & smoke from the exhaust are not allowed. If the vehicle came out of the Showroom in Qatar, there should be no problem. Best way would be to take the vehicle to Q-Tech or any of the vehicle checking shops on the Salwa road and they would be better able to advise. - This would be possible after Monday when eid holidays end.
Sorry, can't comment more than that.
