How long does a work visa take?

I was offered a job on the 17 July, I sent my medical tests on the 3 August and recieved confirmation that these were ok. I understand things are slow during Ramadan but could some one who has been throgh this process please advise how long should it take normally. The company is a State Gas company. I have a British passport.

It is quite hard to plan ahead not knowing if the visa will materialise or not...

Thanks

Just heard from Hubby's company that Qatar government office is updating their technology so therefore causing delays with Work Visas.

Anyone else heard this?

My husband went over for an interview on August 1st he did is work medical then got his official offer letter and on August 15th - was told it would take another 3-4 weeks for the work visa - so we are in week 3 and we are living in Limbo. Its hard to get organised not to mention the perverbial going away party planning!

Let me know when you get your stuff through and I will do the same likewise...goodluck

we've applied for our visa 24 days ago (just before all the holidays). We've been told that noone looked at it as they had 14 days off holiday +weekends (don't know how true it is). A relocation lady in my husband's work said that most likely we will hear from them this or next week, but I don't know for sure. I know how annoying it is to wait. Fingers cross for both of us.
