How long does my husband have to have his RP before he can sponsor me to work?

Hi,
I've recently moved to Doha with my husband. His employer are sponsoring him. Once his RP has been approved will he be able to apply to sponsor me straight away? Am I able to work immediately once this has been approved? I have an opportunity lined up under local contract once I have been sponsored.
