Father Name instead of minem on Visa ID

My orignal name is Muhammad Omair Siddiqui and my father name is Muhammad Shariq

Now i got my Qatar id with name showing in English as
Muhammad Omair S M Shariq

What more strange thing for me is my name in Arabic: It saying(محمد شارق)Muhammad Shariq (i.e my father name) i asked concern person in my company but they are saying its all ok and i need not to worry as my name in English is fine.

Now i am initiating my driving license, Bank account and medical forms processes and wondering what would be the implication of this. Should i go for name change process or its all ok?

Hi Muhammed,

Based on the responses you received I decided to ensure the errors were corrected on my visa when I went to collect my RP.

My visa omitted my surname (family name/ last name) and gave my date of birth as the same date the visa application was made ... by my husband. So effectively I am a few months old but married. Prior to this my name did not appear on the visa AT ALL and my passport number was inaccurate!!!!! My husband brought these errors to the attention of the employee responsible for these matters at his company and the person corrected my passport number and told him all that is important is my passport number and the expiration date.

I was permitted to enter the country, complete the medical and finger printing processes without a problem. In fact no-one noticed!

Luckily, I decided to print an extra copy of the visa I received and make the corrections on it. When I went to the immigration booth at the post office to pay the relevant fees and collect the RP I informed the gentleman at the window of the errors and showed him the corrections. He told me they could not make the amendments at that office and directed me to the main Immigration Department. He wrote a note in Arabic, which I was later told only stated that my date of birth was incorrect. No mention was made about my name being incomplete.

When you go to the main Immigration Department you need to go to gate No. 4 which is the section which deals with visas for them to amend all the errors on the visa before your RP is printed.

When I went there the persons who dealt with me were quite polite and they made the changes on the computer. I was sent to Gate No. 4, window No. 1. There is a gentleman seated around a computer just behind the counter. He made the actual changes ... at no charge.

The Arabic note I received only referred to the error with respect to my date of birth so that was all they changed initially. I had to bring it to their attention that my name was incomplete and then they made that change also. They told me it would take 24hours for the system to be updated to reflect the changes so I should return the following day. In less 24 hours my husband received a text message stating that my visa is now ready and he should visa the Ministry of Interior's Website to print a copy of the amended visa.

On your return you will either go to Gate No. 1 if a company is applying for your resident permit or Gate no.2 if it is a personal application such as a spouse or parent.

It is unfortunate that my efforts to obtain the RP have been delayed because of the person at my husband's office who insisted there is nothing wrong with my visa despite all the errors. However, had it not occurred I would not be able to share this information with you.

So I recommend that you print an extra copy of your visa, insert ALL the amendments required in red ink and bring all the errors to the attention of the officer at Window No. 1 (Gate 4) at the Main Immigration Department.

Good luck.

To be on the safe side, just go back to Immigration or ask your Company PRO to get the name fixed.

So that in future you don't have any problem at all....

Try to correct it because you will always have problems with the inconsistency of you name in you Qatari ID and other personal documents.

The Qatari public services continue to be substandard, even with computers!

Hi Muhammed,

I had the same problem as you do. My husband's name was inserted in the space provided for my name and my date of birth was incorrectly stated on the visa issued to me. My husband brought it to their attention and he was repeatedly told it is not a problem as long as my passport number was correct.

I haven't attempted to obtain a driver's licence or bank account as yet so I don't know what effect the error will have on processing those. What I can assure you however, is that it will not affect your doing the medical and fingerprints.

Best wishes.
