Family Visa Criteria to be more difficult

Ceiling on basic salary for family visa to be raised.
Due to the increasing
cost of living in the country, residents
with a basic salary of less
than QR7,000 a month might
not be allowed to sponsor their
wives and children here.
The authorities are taking a
closer look at the possibility of
raising the minimum monthly basic
salary limit for residents to apply
for family visas to QR7,000. The
limit currently is QR4,500 but the
recruitment committee responsible
for clearing family visas for
residents, is planning to increase
the slab in the near future.
The idea behind a possible
review of the minimum salary
limit is to make sure that resident
families live here comfortably.
Families facing financial woes
due to insufficient monthly
income of their bread-winners
can lead to unwarranted social
problems.
The cost of living in the country
has been rising over the past few
years putting financial strain on
limited-income families. House
rentals have soared beyond the
reach of families with limited
resources. Food prices and the cost
of educating children have all gone
up. A source in the recruitment
committee told Al Sharq: “Once the
decision to raise the salary limit is
taken, we are going to straightaway
reject the request of an applicant
for family visa if his basic salary is
less than QR7,000.”
He added that ‘fool-proof’
measures were to be taken to
ensure that applicants requesting
permanent family visas do not
produce doctored salary certificates
to make sure they are eligible.
“We will be taking all possible
steps to guarantee that no family
visa applicant gets away with
falsifying facts and figures. We
are going to be very strict about
implementing the rule once it is
in force,” the source stressed.

You said that this 7,000 QR is not yet implemented.Im confuse because our PRO said that this is already implemented this month. You know why Im curious about this, because I have plan to get my kids early next month and we are about to apply their visa's by end of January (because we are still waiting for the passport of my daughter).

My husband and I are both working here in Doha and do you think that if we combine our salary it will be easy for us to apply and approved their residence visa from the immigration.

I would greatly appreciate your reply as soonest as possible.

A higher salary limit is neccessary. Whilst we would all like our families to be with us, we also need to look at the practicality.

What sort of life will the family lead if you can't afford to house, feed, transport, educate them peoperly.

5,500 total package ???? I think you need minimum minimum 6000 just for a family accomodation .... I dont think so you will be able to manage in 5,500 with family .... you need minimum 3 - 4 K other than accomodation just to survive !!!!

I agree with you. Outing a limit of say 18 - 20K on salary is not fair. I can very easily provide my family (wife and a kid) a very decent living in 15 - 16K. Its up to me if I want to save something or not !!!

And if they are really raising this limit by almost 60% (from 4.5K - 7K), then they should also instruct the employers to raise the basic salaries by 60% of the employees who have basic salaries less than 7K !!!

And on the other hand, one thing they should really be focusing on is to control the hikes in prices of living, specially accommodation !!!

A rich govt like that of Qatar can very easily do projects of housing and provide people with affordable and good accommodations, but the fact is, they really don't cars for expats, as its mostly the expats being affected by high rents!!!

i do agree that putting in a basic salary cap limit might help, but we also know that if an average person is getting a basic of lets say 4.5 grand, including housing and transportation one can easily get more than 10000 QAR. So my question is that are you saying 10 grand is not sufficient for a family ? It should be, yes the minimum criteria can be put in as if you have 1 or 2 kids due to expenses this may not be allowed and you have to stick to a 7000 basic, coz its true. Looking at the facts and figures a person getting a basic of 7000 may be easily drawing almost 20000 a month, so how many ppl in doha are getting that much ? what about normal people who are getting 7000 - 15000 who can easily still comfortably afford families ? I guess that its not right ... what do you think ?

Hi gvd, what is your basic salary that is being offered?

Right now, the minimum basic salary criteria is 4500 QR, so if you are joining within the next 1 - 2 months, and your basic salary is more than 4500, then you have a chance because this 7000 QR thing is not yet implemented, and it may take a while. But then again, you have to lucky in Qatar to get all things the way you want :)

Best of luck !!!

Never Give up hope ...

And yes, if you are not qualifying the minimum criteria, then I dont think you have a chance, and my suggestion would be to not to try other options. Because other options are to go for fake documents, which could put you in trouble.
