Family Residence Visa

Last week I applied for visa for family at the Immigration office in Wakra and got the visas issued after 3 days. I was under the impression that these are Residence Visas. However, after checking the details, I understand that the visa status is "Visit". I meet all the requirements for applying for a permanent residence visa for family. May be the guy at the typing center understood me wrong. is it possible to approach the immigration office and get the visa changed? or should I now bring them first here and then apply for a Residence Visa? Pl advise. Thank you

dear friend,

for family visa u have to apply at gharaffa immigration upstairs and is open only in the morning. now as the visa which is oin your hand is visit visa. u have two option.

1. u have to cancel the visa and then repply for family visa

2. u can get your family for the present visa in ur hand and then convert it to pr by giving extra 700 / head that is 500 (for not leaving the country) plus 200 (resident status). after this u have to pay again for the visa stamping 500 for an year/ head

the loss now u will have is huge in the second option that is 700qr etc /head. that means u would have gained 700qr if u were careful in issuing your visa before (bad luck)

now if you are going for the first option then u can gain 500/head

I think it is not possible now to change issued visit visa to resident visa and also to cancel it either, therefore in my opinion it is now advisable to call your family on visit visa and while their stay here try for permanent visa.

Good luck.
