Extending tourist visa for filipina

Apologies but have one more question. My potential maid arrived in Qatar on a tourist visa which expires on the 14th June. Our maid visa and sponsorship will probably take at least another week to process after the 14th. What are the options for her to remain in Qatar. Her visa was arranged through a travel agency which is holding her passport here in Qatar. I have heard different things about daily fines, or needing to fly to Bahrain orgoing to immigration near the airport and asking for a visa extension (although I wasn't sure if this just applied to people who were issued with a tourist visa on arrival?). Could anybody please advise me on what the options are? Thanks again.

The agency just want to make money one way or the other.. Qrs.200/- penalty per day. Ask them for your noc so as not to waste time when you get your approval.. Go to the imigration when you get your approval and ask a captain or tell him that your maid is already on penalty. he can process your visa in less than 30 mins if all documents are in order...

Thanks. The latest situation now is that the agency are asking for 1000 QR to stop them from giving her passport to CID tomorrow. They said it is a 'deposit' and will give us until Thursday to get the maid visa issued otherwise they will keep the money and she has to exit.

Would this be an idle threat and if they do give her passport to CID does it matter as long as we pay the overstay fine of 200 QR a day until visa is processed? If they were genuinely concerned about her running away or the visa not being processed surely they could simply call the agency we are using to process the maid visa to verify that the paperwork is currently being processed?

Any more advice is welcome!! Thank you.

I think paying 200QR penalty is not a problem but the name of the travel agency who got visa for your maid will be having a bad reputation to the ministry of interior thats why they want your maid to be sent back home because of this situation so the trust of the qatar government to that agency will remain. hope it helps

Hi again. Could someone please help urgently. (Please see info i posted previously as background to this).

I have just found out that my potential maid's tourist visa will expire on the 13th ie. tomorrow not the 14th by her travel agency. Her maid visa will not be ready by then as we are expecting it probably on the 14th or 15th of June.

They have told me she must exit the country. Is this correct or is this some way to try and make money from a potential sponsor?

I was under the impression that if her tourist visa expires we could just pay a daily fine of 200QR but her travel agency have told me this is no longer the case and she must exit Qatar. Is this correct?

Please could someone advise as she really does not want to get on a plane back to the Phillipines tomorrow and i really don't want to find another maid as I really like her. Thank you.

I heard that if the sponsor is willing to process the workers document then it would still be cheaper to go on penalties for the extension days after 14,maybe for a week of QR200/day or lesser days than get an exit visa which is more costly...

Do you still get fined 200 QR if a tourist visa expires but you can prove that the paperwork has been submitted for a working (maid) visa and the process is underway?

Also meant to add that i have just read this :-

http://www.moi.gov.qa/site/english/departments/PassportDept/news/2011/01/03/23137.html

As our potential maid is on a one month tourist visa (like the one described in the link) does this mean that the only option we have while waiting for the maid visa to be processes is to pay the daily fine when her tourist visa expires?

Thanks for the link. I've had a look through but am still not clear which i would need to apply for and even if i could apply for any of these for her. Is there anyone who has been in a similar situation and managed to resolve it? Seems like there could be lots of options from the fee list but not sure if in reality there really are, especially with the travel agency holding her passport.
