I had a friend whose sponsor didn't like him much so after staying with his sponsor for 15 years he left the country under the pretext of holidays and went to Dubai and started a business there. Somehow his sponsor found out the was in Dubai and he contacted the Interpol (international police) and asked them to bring the fugitive back to Qatar. So the Interpol got him extradited to Qatar. He is out on bail and is currently on trial for 1.4 million riyals of owed to his sponsor.
Poor Guy no way out of Qatar for him now.
So the best bet is even if you take a lot of loan and run from Qatar make sure to go back to your country and never come back in the middle east. In North America your loan/debt stays with you for seven years where here in the Middle East there is no way out even if you declare bankruptcy.
cant say anything sly..as i was born here..thank GOD i dont have any case..but i didnt run through to get a clearance from my back home 1st...but 1 of my friend as he was born back home...they asked him to 1st bring a clearance of ur own country of urz from ur embacy here...so it takes a month or more to get a result.
but as concence to clearance with case...another friend of mine got a negative report without telling him a reason..he dont know what have he done that he got a negative report...
if you have police case in other gcc will it affect your records here in qatar? i have one in uae its because of my credit card hehe which i have not paid for 3 months they told me that they filed a police case for me already im not really sure if this is true

I am told by some expatriates in Doha that companies can issue multilpe entry/exit visas and that this should be negotiated before signing up.....Otherwise you can kiss your weekends at Dubai/Bahrain goodbye if HR is having a bad day!!!
When you get an Exit Permit from your employer, you have to take it to Immigration within 7 days of your exit and have it processed. But the permit from the employer doesn't seem to have a date field on it.
What is to prevent you from getting an exit permit from your employer and then just storing it up for a future date when you want a weekend away?
I know what you're saying, wizmotr, but this is bound to change. If you have a boss who doesn't like you means you're not getting an exit permit to spend the weekend in Dubai.
It's like a restraining order. You're free to roam around but don't leave town "in case we wanna talk to you".
This isn't a free-market economy. Labour is strictly controlled to earn the most money for the Qatari masters (I mean sponsors). Letting workers just go back home and get a better job is bad for profits.
Secondly, in the west if you run without paying your debts, it looks bad on you. Here if you run with outstanding debts, it looks bad on your master (I mean sponsor). In some ways, it's still a very feudal society. The master (I mean sponsor) is responsible for his slaves/serfs, their conduct and behaviour.
Plus, in the west, it's an integrated credit market. Rack up a large credit card bill in the UK and chances are it will hurt you in the US. This country doesn't even have a credit reporting agency to track bad credit risks!

1.4 million Riyals and he comes back to a place 1/2 an hour's flight away! Not very smart.

why would CID blocked you at the airport?
Is there any way in hell to get out of qatar if CID has blocked you at the airport?
There must be a bloody way out...

No there's always a date. Never seen one without a date.

I'm speculating here:

wizmotr, point taken but how come when I lived and worked in the US and UK nobody assumed I'd be a flight risk?
Good for one year but they cost 500QR per year. One time exit visas are free.
They're a way to make sure you're not a flight risk.
You can ask your sponsor to give you a one-year exit permit. That way you don't have to apply for one every time you travel.
Every non-Qatari needs an exit permit to leave the country. You can't just grab a ticket and head to Dubai for the weekend.
Yea dont even turn up in the first place.
