Entry & exit visas during UN conference
There has been some speculation recently that people will not be allowed to enter or exit Qatar between 28th November and 3rd December (while the UN conference is taking place).
Travel agencies are passing on what seems to be false information about this, saying that only residents with multiple exit visas will be allowed in and out of Doha during this time.
The following information comes from Doha Airport Immigration (visa section), so there is no issue for residents and if you are expecting visitors (tourist or business) just make sure you purchase their visas in advance;
1. Employees with residence permit can travel and come back any time (multiple exit visa is not a mandatory) and exit visas will be issued regularly.
2. Business visa and tourist visa will be issued till 28th November. Visitors can enter Qatar between 29th November and 3rd December, if they have already obtained their visa (business/tourist)
3. Immigration authority will neither accept visa application nor issue visas (business /tourist) between 29th November and 3rd December. (Also tourist visa will not be issued upon arrival from Doha airport during this period)
regarding the residents with multiple exit visas being allowed in and out of Doha, it IS a rumour :)
thank you.

they reprimand such policy....
perhaps to lessen/eliminate influx of visitors/immigrants taking the chances to ENTRY QATAR during the duration of this conference...
QATAR had learned that lots of "RETAINEES" remain in QATAR after the 15th DOHA ASIAN GAMES...
"RETAINEES" refer as workers/volunteers who consequently absorb by local companies to retain and work here..
Here we go again, more confusion in Qatar!

As I understand it, you will not be able to get a visa on arrival at Doha airport during those dates. So I guess the answer to your question is yes.
Sorry for possibly asking a dumb question with an obvious answer. Are you saying Tall G that people who do Bahrain runs to renew their stay would incur problems during these few days?

Ah ok, I didn't understand your first comment then. Sorry. No need to shout!
Well unsurprisingly it looks like different people are telling us different things!
Just to reconfirm, my information came from the visa section of Doha Airport Immigration. I'll let people decide whether they want to believe them or not. I take no responsibility for what I posted being wrong. I am but the conduit!
I got what YOU say..and I say, that based on MY info, it's NOT a rumour, as i have received it not from some tourist agencies, but from some Authorities..

QS - that's NOT what I've said in the post above. It says that the rumour about only residents with multiple exit visas being allowed in and out of Doha during this time is apparently false.
Tallg, I was also going to post this subject. But based on my info, as you said, ONLY residents with MULTIPLE exit visas will be allowed in and out of Doha during this time. Moreover, those who are on business visa, and not are residents of Qatar will be ask to leave the country for that time. And this info is NOT from the tourists agency or so. It is a pretty much official warning for those who deal with the immigration issues in Qatar.

Dates stated are 29th->3rd.
Any queries are probably best directed to the immigration department at the airport.
I have someone arriving on 5th December from the UK, I assume everything will be back to normal - usually from UK people can enter on a tourist visa bought at immigration - any reassurance would be good, thanks
I have a Residency (RP) here in Qatar...
My wife and 3 kids just arrived on November 2nd. I had planned to extend them a month so they could be with me during Christmas. Are they not going to be able to be extended at the end of November if they are already here?
Paying for a flight back to Houston just for a few days is not possible.
What do you all think I can do? Just let them stay the extra week and then go extend their visa's?
It's a shocking state of affairs when we have to search out this sort of information for ourselves.
Well, your family could apply for their visas at the Qatar Embassy in Washington DC and send their passports through a visa expediting agency but that seems like a real pain. Are they flying Qatar Airways? I understand they arrange visas for their passengers. Glad you found out ahead of time, what a mess that would have been!

I do have family coming during that time, and hadn't heard anything. I appreciate your posting this information.
I have never applied ahead of time for a Qatar visa. Can this be done online, or do I need to go in person to the immigration office?
Thank you!
Imagine if you didn't know about this and a relative or someone flew in to visit during that period, and they were denied an entry visa on arrival at Qatar airport. I hope the airlines and travel agents are making people who've booked flights aware of this.
fieryangelinthesky ...Entry and Exit will be allowed, as mentioned. Only new visas will not be issued for short period between 29th nov and 3rd dec.
of not issuing entry and exit visa during UN Conference?
