Entering Doha with expired RP

My good friend had a teaching job in Doha starting August 2010. The contract was for 2 years. After the first year she decided to break her contract and not return after the summer. As she did not leave the country through her employer, her RP in her passport has not been stamped as cancelled. A year on, her RP is now expired. Other than breaking her contract she has no misdemeanors with the country and owes no loans, etc. My question is - can my friend enter Doha as a tourist and get a tourist visa? Without questions or alarms being raised about her expired RP? Another one of my friends in a similar situation said she 'lost' her passport, therefore clearing all evidence of her time in Doha and has been able to enter no problem. This seems like a bit of an extreme solution and isn't ideal. My worst nightmare is my friend would be refused at the airport or worse not let out! Please only comment if you have some genuine insight, hearsay and opinion is fare and well but I'm really looking for some solid factual information, thanks in advance!

Thanks for the comments guys. I think she should be ok getting in! Snessy replacing a passport is a lot of form filling, quite expensive and if it can be avoided then all the better!

Why doesn't this friend "lose" her passport too? The cost of a new passport isn't a big deal if it ensures she won't have any problems coming into Qatar.
