Educational Documents and Visa

Dear All,

I am new to this forum and have recently accepted an offer at one of the private sector companies in Qatar and have been asked to provide my educational certificates, Police Clearence Certificates and Experience letters.

I have completed my Masters and Bachelors from Australia so i found out the information that i need to get my degree certificates notarized by notary public in Australia and then by Foreign affairs office in Australia. Secondly we dont have any Qatar embassy or consulate in Australia so i dont know how to go about getting documents attested from Qatar Embassy or consulates in Australia.

I need to know will i get my originals attested or make copies of it and then get the copies attested and provide the copies to my new employer

In addition i was told by the company that they will apply for my Temporary Visa once i will provide them all the required documents, and after getting the Temporary visa i can fly to Qatar to finish up rest of the requirements.
My question is that do companies normally offer Tickets to there employees so they can fly from there country of origin to Qatar and signed there contracts and finish rest of the requirements. Can people work once they sign the contracts or they have to wait for there residence visa. Do people have to wait for months to get there Resident visas and do company normally provide any salary during the Resident visa process

Please help me out with these queries as i dont know what is going to happen in next few months

Regards,
Zohaib

Thanks Remo for your reply and guiding me through. I havent resigned from my current employer and thinking of resigning once i will get the Temporary visa. The notice period for resigning at my current employer is 4 weeks. Do companies normally wait that long...

1- I had done the same procedure but I was lucky to find Qatar Embassy in Pakistan. Normally it is required by Labour department to process your work visa but there could be exceptions as they dont ask in all the cases. The requirement is that your degree should be attested from Qatar Embassy located in the country from where your degree is issued, since there is no Qatar Embassy in Australia and vice versa, you need to discuss this thing with your employer. They may have dealt with similar situation before. You can get both original and photocopies attested, just in case you can give them attested copy and keep the original with you.

2- Your salary start from DATE OF JOINING the company.

3- Normally companies provide the ticket but depends upon the company policy, check with them if they will send you the e-ticket prior to your travel.

4- Company should provide the salary during the time your residence permit is processed, make sure they send you the "Business Visit Visa", as you are entitled to work on a Business Visit Visa.

Thanks guys for your replies...

So i need to get my originals attested by Department of Foreign Affairs not copies and companies do provide ticket for there prospective employee to arrive Qatar and sign the contract if its mentioned in the contract, and people do get paid once they sign the contract

This is what i understand so far

I hope some other members reply to my queries

01. original documents to be attested with the ministry of external affair not copies and after arrival get attestation with your embassy and foreign ministry...

02. on the day of arrival your salary started but with working visa regarding temporary business visa or any other visa depend on company policy but beaware of that...

03.company will provide ticket if its mention in the contract but before signing check the contract and read carefully...

thanks...

Most people I know started work after signing a contract even if they came on a visit visa. The work visa normally takes some time to process but you should be paid for your work regardless of work visa. The work visa application should be completed before your visit visa runs out.

You should keep a signed copy of your contract in case there are any issues in the future.

I hope this helps. Good luck.
