E-gate
I would like to get an E-gate card for the airport as I travel alot and would like to get round the lottery of the arrivals hall as to whether there are huge queues or not.
Where is this done? The MOI website tells me which office to go to but not where it is.
Also, my ID card, although only a couple of months old does not appear to have a chip on it. Does this matter, or will they issue a chip card at the E-gate office.
Thanks
OK - two different pieces of advice here. I admit, I had heard that the office in the airport is now closed. Is this actually the case?
Kalvertsyasmeen - the process you described above - do I need to get a new chipped ID card as per Acadian's advice?
If I do need to get a chipped ID card, how do I go about that as well?
Thanks.
You have to visit the Ministry of Interior, located near Landmark Mall.
Carry your present Q.ID with you and go to Gate 3.
Here at the far end of the room, you shall find green colored government machines, with the operator. You need to feed in your fingerprint and iris scan data using those machines, which the operator will guide you through.
Once this is done you need to obtain a token number from Gate 2 and wait in queue.
When called to the counter, you may make your payment depending on how long you want your E-Gate to be valid for and they will process it. Make sure you mention that you want the chip. After about a 10 minute wait, the security will give you your new E-Gate card.
You must get a new ID card with a chip if your present one does not have one. The E-Gate office is in the departures at the airport opposite the ONB exchange office. They usually are open at 8.am. You can get for one-two or three year gate pass
