Duration of residence 1 year

I got work visa which says Duration of Residence : 5 years.

But when I went for finger prints CID section the printed paper says Residence Duration By Year: 1 year.

I am confused as to how many years visa I will get. If initially I get 1 year visa only then why what is the reason? Then what is that 5 years?

As Jajoo mentioned, you got approval from Labour Dept for 5 years (Usually Labour Dept is giving 5 years approval and require to renew every 5 yrs. i.e. elligibility to work in Qatar) and Immigration Dept issues Visa for 1yr (which you call Employment Visa) which is renewable for another next 4 years.

I hope it will clear your doubt.

i think that work visa is valid for 5 years but u hav to reniew every year (can reniew to 2-3 years also, depend on company) untill 5 years & then apply for new work visa.

I believe the best person that can answer this is the PR from your company... Or the person in charge for handling Immigration matters...

By the way after getting your work visa, the company applies for residence permit from immigration. During that application they will put the number of years that they prefer to give you or according to your contract with the company.. Usually 1 or 2 years... Accordingly your residence permit would be processed irrespective of the period mentioned in your work visa...

All the best...
