Do Americans need a work visa in Qatar?

Nisri
By Nisri

I'm interested in relocating to Qatar and was curious what the requirements are to making that happen?

That's how it works here, you can try to find a job in Qatar and the company will take care of all of your documents (RP, family visa, etc.).

es,

no need to bomb us, we have the planes, troops, and tanks here.

the usual process is call the American government and ask them to bomb the country from the air for at least two weeks. Then send in troops and tanks to clear the ground but and this is the important bit hand out bits of paper saying that America supports the citizens of ........... and is here to make their lives better.

Once that process is completed it is a simple matter of hopping on your friendly military transport plan and voila you can work for the (American) contractor of your choice in the country of your choice!

Why can't people just answer questions without jumping to conclusions or rushing to judgement?

Ooops, that's me thinking out loud again...

Carlo,

I'm neither white or superior.

Thank you for your participation anyway..

Why American or white people think of themselves as superior just come to think of it if you want to work here just use your common sense how can you work if you dont have a working visa? next time think 100 times before you ask a question.

Nisri, don't get discouraged. It does take a while for alot of professionals to find a position when they do not already have a contact or a company recruiting them...just as other posters said.

You might take a look at this site - http://www.bayt.com/

Also, try to focus in on specific companies that you are interested in and apply directly.

Good luck.

I posted my resume on moster but have not made it public as of yet. I'm conducting relevant searches and applying for available opportunities but it doesn't hurt to expand my network to include other avenues besides monster.

Thanks for the tip "Tweety" :)

Have a nice day as well.

This is not discouraging at all. On the contrary, this information is beneficial as I try to move forward with my plans to transition into the Middle Eastern market.

I do not plan to just "up & relocate". I am, however, researching opportunities that would enhance my family's life and my proffesional expertise. I presented my questions in this forum to gain some insight into an uncharted territory but I'm not naive about the challenges of the global job market.

I believe that I possess the necessary skill-set, expertise, education, energy and drive to bring an immediate and positive impact to any organization. I have been a high-level performer my entire career and I'm now looking for a new set of challenges in a market other than the U.S.

If anyone on this site can guide me to finding websites, contact information or headhunter informaion, I'll do the necessary leg work to find the right opportunity and I'll be forever thankful.

Thank you for your advice.

Have you heard about Monster.com? post your resume with them and employers will fish out your resume and call you if they are interested to hire you. Good luck!

Have a nice day!

I don't mean to be discouraging to you by any stretch but most people don't just up and relocate to Qatar. We are brought by specific companies for certain positions. That's why Westerners can be paid a considerable amount of money - they were recruited and hired from overseas because of a very particular set of skills/experience needed by a firm in Qatar. When our contracts are over we will, nay MUST, however sadly return to our home countries. It is not a free-market economy. There are some generic recruiting agencies but your best bet is directly with a company that needs your specialized skill or a headhunter acting on that company's behalf. If you haven't a skill that is in high demand (i.e. transplant surgeon) you will be competing for jobs with people from closer countries which traditionally tend to underbid their services.

All,

Thank you for the insightful responses.

I'm an operations Manager in the FMCG industry the U.S and have 5+ years of management experience in the fields of supply chain, logistics and warehouseing.

Are there any good recruiting agencies, which I can utilize to help guide my search? Contact information? Websites?

Thank you again for your help.

Work visas are linked to a job in a Qatari company. You can't GET one. Your employer would supply it.
