Direct hire but needs agency..WHATTTTTT???

I have a job offer( direct hired) as teacher. I have already my Working Visa which was processed by my employer. Days ago, my employer emailed me about the mandatory assigned agent office to process my exit in the Philippines as being told by him from the people at the Documents Processing Dept at our embassy in Qatar. My question...is this a new law now for direct hired? Do I really need to go through an agency even if my case was direct hire?

please please..enlighten me..thank you

Yes it mandatory. Please note that as what you said the company that hired you "assigned" their affiliated Philippine agency for you. This is because the company that directly hired you has to abide by the Philippine law to be duly recognized via the Agency. This is for your own safety, legal and benefit. The reason is that in case something wrong happens to you (God forbid) our government will have to chase this Agency and make it accountable for representing company that hires you, rather than look for them on their own turf. The payment you will give to this agency will be part of your registration to POEA, OWWA membership and Philhealth for 1 year. The above mentioned are legal necessities so that you will not be one of those UNDOCUMENTED OFW's who regualarly by pass this law and when they get in trouble thay want our government to bail them out.

The one thing you need to be careful of is that the company that directly hired you "may" have already given payment to the agency for this process. Just ask that company what the Agency is charging you for this and have they already covered it.

Why would you involve the POEA? They only take your money. If you have a problem in Qatar THEY ARE OF NO HELP anyways.

Yeah u have to go to an accredited qatar agency. I also go through the same process. Because POEA have a lots of requirements that agency in phil must process. Just arrived to qatar last week.

Being in the same situation as as "direct hired" almost a year ago..it is up to you if you want an agency to do it all for you but it is not compulsary since you may do it on your own avoiding the agency fee. I have done all my documentation/processing by myself, you can do it as well!!goodluck

I would like to add, after being directly hired by your employer, and will only be processed by the appointed agency. You will still be required to pay the AGENCY the 1 month salary equivalent "PLACEMENT FEE". I believe to avoid the placement fee, you can process your documents on your own, but you will need to contact POEA and get the proper details. It is on the embassy website somewhere, under directly hired rules. goodluck...

You do have a choice. Leave the Philippines as a tourist to Thailand. Board Qatar Airways from Bangkok with your visa. No problem at all!

Kabayan, it is not a new law! It is compulsary that all filipinos going out of the country with working visa are required to be processed at the POEA even if you are direct hire. If your employer provided you a working visa, you don't have any choice but to process your documents through an authorized recruitment agency.

sorry to say, this is the rules to exit our home country. Regardless if we are hired by an agency or directly hired by an employer, if you are inside the phil, we all go the same time/money consuming process. But there is an alternative. You can take a visit to singapore or hong kong, and from there fly to qatar. No questions asked...goodluck...
