I need a suggestion and advice. I have been working for a company for the past 4 yrs and my initial contact was 2 yrs. after completing the 2 yrs, i request for NOC and they told me NO, i continue with them as i dont have option and i dont want to go back to my home country. I was happy in MAY when govt announced of the upcoming labour reform. But last week, my company management rep. called me on phone and told me to come and sign new contract which is 5 yrs, i disagree and since then they have been treating me that they will cancel and send me back home if i fail to sign the new contract. I requested them to allow me to wait till when my ID will expire by next year may, but they said no. I meet with the HR and he told me that the directory from Qatar labor department is that all employee should sign new 5 yrs contract because of the upcoming law reform. They have already force some of my colleague to signed. Kindly advice me what to do and if possible, if anybody can recommend a strong labor lawyer to me , i will be very happy. I heard that going to labor court to complain will not help. Thanks you all as am waiting for your powerful contribution.

Hello, not only you, thousands of people are under same pressure.

First of all, If they bring 5 years as contract period to change the job, it is still doesnt feel relaxation

NOW, if they consider the contract, not the actual joining date(for 5years duration), it is a mental tragedy for the people waiting with big hope..

No lawer can help you, it is the LAW OF THE COUNTRY.

Actually, it is benefited equally both side.Employer get lot of experienced people to work for lesser salary and opportunity to select most talented ppl.

Also, not like everyone leave the job one day.Once the law is relaxed, market will become saturated and many ppl will stay in the same place...

So hoping for a good decision from Govt.
