can a RP expire after a couple of months not in Qatar?

Hi everybody,
due to her studys my wife will spend a couple of months outside of Qatar. However, of course she plans to visit me from time to time and to move back to Qatar after this time...
Can her family visa expire if she does not entry Qatar for a couple of months or is there a minimum number of days which she needs to spend here in Qatar? I've just heard from friends that there might be some regulations?!
Thank you all and all the best,
Ferdinand
Yes .. both answers are valid ..
but the RP must be valid while outside and not expired .
to extend 6 more months you have to pay 500 Qr .
fill the required form from the net ( www.moi.gov.qa ) and take it to the airport immigration .)
Your wife can be extend outside qatar more than 6 month up to 1 year with reason schooling your children.
process in airport immigration, fill the form given the certificate from school proof if you meet the captain there and just pay penalty fees for that.
Staying out for more than 6 months will cancel automatically the visa.
After 6 months
