Anyone pls help,

My family and I are staying here in doha for almost 2 years now. My wife just recently entertained the idea of finding a job here as well. The challenge now is to find someone whom we can entrust our kids with while we are away for work. We really wanted to bring someone in from our country to help us in the household jobs but I am not sure if I (a non-qatari resident visa holder), can sponsor someone for a working visa? Can somebody pls enlighten me on this and give me some idea how to bring someone here (from my country) for a household job??

thanks a lot!

Can you please let me know any contact details of the agency who can sponsor a housemaid.

Why would I waste my time & money if I don't follow "the best way" that you suggested? Why go to an agency (and pay QR6500)? Who gives nationality approval? Is it necessary to sponsor a housemaid? If it is the embassy of that nationality, it sounds difficult to attain. I contacted one such embassy and they gave me this long list of documents they required. Is this the case for all nationalities?

1. Contract letter (I sign it)

2. My ID card and passport copy

3. ID card and passport copy of the person who recommended the

housemaid (she would be called guarantor)

4. Recommendation letter from this guarantor

In my case, the guarantor would be a housemaid of a good friend. I doubt this housemaid would want to become a guarantor. This is because a guarantor means she would be responsible for my housemaid's behaviour (for example: providing an airplane ticket if my housemaid gets deported or flees).

Getting a housemade is allowed to non-qatari as a sponser, but there is rules, first you should get approval for the nationalty you want, bare in mind that you can't get your own country housemade, second go to agency office ( a lot in Doha) with your approval to search for what nationalty been approved to you .

this is the best way , else you will waste your time and money .

I sponsored (myself) a Filipina as a housemaid for 2 years. She came here initially on a tourist visa. Then I transferred the tourist visa into a housemaid visa. All it took was a visit to the Immigration Office and an officer there (who liked Filipinas) to help us out.

But I've heard (through the grapevine) that getting tourist visas for people from Sri Lanka, Philipines, Indonesia, etc. is more difficult now. This is because the government wants people to use agencies now (instead of individuals (which is more difficult to track & monitor)).

I have found someone who I want to bring here as a housemaid.

Would it be better to buy them a round-trip ticket and (1) tell them to come to Qatar and apply for a tourist visa; OR (2) tell them to come here after I have applied and got a housemaid visa for them?

You don't need to be a qatari to sponsor a housemaid. You can either go to one of the agents here (expensive) or get a visa and bring one in yourself. There are some countries which are exempt right now such as Indi; but Sri Lanka, Philipines, Indonesia, Sudan are all acceptable. Go to your embassy, or the embassy of the place you want to hire from, and ask them to give you the details of how to go about doing this.

Many ex-pats bring in their own houseworkers, its fussy and annoying dealing with some of the various offices, but its worth it.

Agencies of course cut out all the hassle, but as many of the girls/men have paid huge bribes I'm against this process and won't use them. If you do hire from an agency, and the worker is unsuitable, they will offer to exchange. Hope this helps.

can you please extend more effort to help me here? how can i go about it? can you please tell me some details about the procedure to follow? it is very difficult for me (non-arabic speaking) to ask someone in the immigration offices questions about this matter and get a good reply.

thanks a lot!

Sorry i dont think you'll be able to sponsor for a maid if you are not a QATARI.

A non resident is allowed to sponsor his immediate family members like (Father [if age is less than 60] ,Mother,Wife & Kids). Try the local agents who are providing housemaids and can even get one from your country too.

If you really need a specific person whom you prefer, you should really look for a qatari sponsor for him/her and make her work with your family. Hope it helps buddy.
