I am currently living in Qatar and waiting for my family to join me - the problem is that my son will be turning 19 in June so the company said that they will not sponsor him on the family visa! Could someone please tell me what options i have? if not then it looks like i'll be looking for a new job elswhere! Thanks in advance.

My understanding is that daughters can be sponsored indefinitely.

However, sons may only be sponsored by family if they are in school (high school or university/trade school) until the age of 25. Otherwise, he will need to find a job and then be sponsored by the company he works for.

He probably can come here and look for a job while under a visitors visa. Don't expect him to find great work though which may be a great motivator for him to go to school.

Grades are a problem, but it may be worthwhile checking out the College of the North Atlantic, Qatar as the have lots of trade programs (and where grades are not paramount).

I had the same problem. It is a vicious cycle. My son here on a visitor visa which does not allow him to work. Other than get a job to stay here longer than 6 months at a time he has to show proof of enrolment at university, but having just completed High school he is not sure what career path to take. He was a mediocre student at the best of times and now cannot get access to University untill he takes the entrance exam.... cannot take classes to help him in certain subjects coz ....he is on visitor visa.....Stop this roundabout... I wanna get off!
