hey guys.
please give your past experience.
we are tryign to transfer sponsorship to new employer for my husband. EVERYTHING has been done from labour to stamps to CR's etc. they are now saying he needs a police clearance that has been certified and attested by the Qatar Embassy in our home country i.e. South Africa. We have been in Doha for over a year and half now...and we have an original police clearance that we got when we first arrived and the copies have been certified by a commisioner of oaths in SA...BUT NOT the embassy as this is a new law.

is there any way of getting around this or getting it certified here in Doha?

your thoughts and past experience is greatly appreciated!

I have attested my PCC on Septemper, Since my country Embassy is not in Qatar, I have sent it to my Embassy in Kuwait and they have attested it, then I have got attestation from Qatari Foreing Ministy.

When applying job here in qatar you can get a PCC from Qatar CID only if you have a PCC from your county which is attested by your Embassy.

The only option for you know is to get a new attested PCC from your coutry.

Thanks

thanks abokor

but when did this happen to you?

apparently the new law implemented about 2 months ago...does not allow embassies to attest PCC. they are now sayign it has to be done in the home country. that is what i heard atleast.

also to get a new police clearance certificate in SA will take up to 1 month!!! its is not a easy task...

:-(

processing is really slow over there....

what to do in the mean time..... we have checked with our embassy...they cannot attest anymore...and it will take around a month or more to arrange a new PCC and have them attested in SA.

is it possible to get a PCC here in qatar...will CID issue one as we ahve been living here now for 1.5 years.

The same thing has happen to me also. You need to do the following

If you have the police clearance certificate you don’t’ need to attest from Qatar Embassy in South Africa.

Only you need to

1. Attest this Police clearance that you have from you Embassy i.e. South African Embassy in Qatar. If there is no South African Embassy in Qatar you can send to your nearest South African embassy that deals with South African citizen in Qatar. If your embassy says that your police clearance is old and we cannot attest it, ask them to issue a new one because people are getting these certificates from their embassies.

2. After attesting from you embassy, you need attestation from Ministry of Foreign affairs Qatar. They have an office near Qatar Heritage –corniche and, it is very simple and it takes only 30 minutes and 20 riyals

3. After attestation from Ministry of foreign affairs, they will accept it.
