Hi QL members, I just want to ask you something about renewal of visas... Our company is obliging us to sign a letter wherein it states that our visa renewal fee shall be deducted from our end of service gratuity. I heard from some that renewal of visas shall be paid by the company and not by the employees.
Is it legal? or can we file a complaint against the company?
Thanks.
It is in Qatar law that Employer should shoulder it but in her case which unfortunately happen to me as well, she is about to sign a contract stating that she need to pay it. Will the contract be valid? Is it enforceable?

it is not legal and it is stated clearly in qatari labor law
u can always download the law online n check it I am sure u will find it translated to english somewhere or if not u can find "someone" to translate this for u but it is stated clearly n they can not deduct it from u unless u accept to do so
the law states clearly that ur end of contract compensation should be paid in full n without any delay
always check the law
don't west time ask in the labour ministry, and get the answer.
before you sign, take a copy of it and fax it to the labour dept along with your complaint.
Just go immediately to labor department...they will help you there...

and if any loose their ID cards then it is the concerned staff has to pay
It would really be a big help if anyone could lead me to that article of the Qatar law...
Thanks for the answers, I want to know the legality firsthand before i refuse to sign that letter as my RP renewal is coming near... just want to be ready just in case :)
yeah, same with my friend's company as well... actually it just started last year, when we had our new HR Manager.. in fact on our previous renewal it was always shouldered by the company... :(
that's why i want to know if it is legal...
Qatar rules are..
all necessary resident permit new and renewal employees shall bear by sponsor it mean the company.
company pays any expense related to visa and ID/RP processing.
this cannot be deducted from your end of service benefits
Dont know about other companies but my husband's company pays
