It depends from which airport she is travelling from. If your family is travelling from any Asian countries like India, Pakistan, Srilanka, etc., yes return ticket is mandatory otherwise airline will not allow boarding. If your family is travelling from Europe countries their is no need. Basically it is not immigration requirement but it is airlines rule set to have return ticket while travelling in visit visas.
