The Art of Giving Advice

Prophet Hud said to his people, as mentioned in the Qur'an,

{I convey to you the messages of my Lord, and I am to you a trustworthy adviser.} (Al-A`raf 7:68)

The ability to give advice in a positive, beneficial way is an art. If you are considering offering advice, it is useful to consider the following tips:

1. Examine Your Motives
2. Be Sensitive About How to Broach a Subject
3. Avoid Giving Advice in the Form of Reprimand
4. Keep Privacy
5. Ask Permission
6. Listen First
7. Consider the Other's Frame of Mind
8. Offer Advice Without Insisting
9. Avoid Making Judgments
10. Avoid Threatening
11. Be Specific and Brief
12. Avoid Compelling Others to Follow Your Advice
13. Give Advice as an Act of Worship, Not as a Habit
14. Show Some Humility
15. Practice What You Preach
16. Consider Misunderstanding
17. Be Kind and Gentle

Almighty Allah says,

{It is most hateful to Allah that you should say that which you do not do.} (As-Saff 61:3)

Please pardon me people other than KHAN. This was for a person who distributed heavy advices on my small paint question.

I could have explained in details all 17 points, but KHAN is smart enough to understand from titles.

Again pardon from QL members for this long post. I never indulge or intent to any religious discussion, this may be my first and last, as i am student ever and will be, and never be master.

Can we move to Jotun Paint question back... kindly dont post anything not related to my question.
