As others have suggested and so would I, it advisable not to ship your furniture due to several reasons. First, the cost of freight is there. Second, the furniture will take a minimum three weeks to get here. Third, it will stay at the port for customs and inspection for some days. Fourth, there are always possibilities of damage taking place during shipment. Lastly, you can find new, good stuff here at reasonable costs and you can set up your home within a week after you have taken a villa or an apartment on rent. You will have some cost savings if you decide to buy furniture here and will also save yourself much of hassle. However, if you still would like to have them shipped, I guess the customs duty if applied is 5% of the declared C&F value of the consignment.
