Good point BritExpat. But actually that is not the prime reason. The biggest reason for this move to allow Qataris to save a bit of money they who spend in ramadan setting up iftar tents. I personally know more than a dozen who set up these tents outside their houses or majlis for all 30 days of Ramadan and offer free fatoor/iftar to the needy every single day.
I know because i have many times eaten at these majlis myself and let me tell you, it is always a great spread where not a single grain of rice of shred of mutton gets wasted. So before you all start whining and moaning about how "the government is making things easier for the Qataris only", look at the actual reason why they are doing so. It is to promote more and more Qataris to spend their monies on charity efforts such as these iftar tents.
