A result of poor control by authorities is the only answer!!!
Owners invested money, sit back and relax entrusting drivers/office boys/freelance agents/middlemen to find tenants. Middlemen started looting and rents increased, now owners know the market and themselves started demanding more ... middlemen here trying to make money further on that.

Qatar has high demand for multistoreyed apartments than large villas. Expat population need and afford smaller units; middlemen offers unethical partitions and for expats its only option left.

Wondering why big time investors like Barwa/Ezdan/others limit their supply even when half of the demand not fulfilled. Why dont they think of taller buildings other than in Chorniche.
Dubai and Sharjah accommodate much effectively with effective infrastructure.

Solution to this should start from approvals for multistoreyed buildings / increase supply then penalize illegal partitions and commission agents, standardize rent based on area and infrastructure / amenities.
