r_zh: buddy, i hated dubai when i shifted there and then hated qatar when i shifted here...then...loved dubai by the time i shifted here and now can't bear the thought of ever having to leave from here...i won't guide you with all the boring practical stuff, there's plenty of knowledgeable folk here who will do that for you; all i'll say is, any new country takes time to adjust to; don't let it get you down...work on getting a good group of friends, get your licence and then a car...being mobile in a new city is priceless and driving around will help you get a feel for the city's pulse..it will also give you more reasons to use QL as zafirah said haha) ....don't stay in a corner, meet people, familiarize yourself a bit with the city and once your wife joins you, both of you can together work at making this an exciting new chapter of your lives...trust me, given time, Qatar can be a most wonderful place, especially for families and your challenge is to not compare it to Dubai in any way; two very similar and yet very different places. Keep your chin up, welcome to Qatar and we all wish you a most rewarding professional and personal life here. Whenever you need help, ask for it and you will see there are plenty of caring people in this country who will jump at the chance to help you with whatever it is you need. Not least of all on QL; make this site your friend; it truly is a goldmine of info for new arrivals. Best of luck and have a gggreeeaaattt dayyyy!!!!! :-)
