My grandmother and mother always taught me if you want something done correctly, do it yourself. I am from the US, married to a Gulf national for nearly 20 yrs. Maids have their own agendas, trust me. I am a doormat because I'm horrible at setting boundaries and being strick with them.
Ironically, the country we live in is obese as well, which brings me to my own personal solution. If possible, do what you can yourself. I literally sweat everyday from cleaning. It is a free workout and my body reflects it. My friend came over and said, I have maids, you do not, and your house is cleaner than mine.
No judging, and guess what, you save money too. Not only salary and acquiring a maid. Currently, it's $3,000 to hire a full timer.
Thank you for allowing me to share here.
Some if you guys are really funny and I laughed out loud.
Now, I'm dawning the beats headphones, and cleaning my little heart out for the next 3 hours.
Imve experienced maids taking checkbooks, putting ants in our rice, sitting on f/b all day, discovering my maid with my driver in my bed and one loosened the valve behind my washer at 4:30 am, causing the filter to continuously run out into 3 main rooms. I saw tides of measurable gushing floods inside my house.
You cannot pay someone to care. Remember, they have young children too that they've had to entrust to others as they leave their country to 'survive' financially. And, in spite of what's being done here to us, it pales in comparison to what their children endure.
