I much preferred the old forum. Even though the forum has a more modern look'n'feel now, the superficial changes seem to have come at the cost of functionality and user experience. For example, it takes more effort to glance through the posts in a subforum which, instead of appearing in a neat and regular table, are in little boxes of different heights in two columns, so your eyes need to scan it in a zigzag path. Not fun. Also, less of the post subject is visible so I'm often not sure if a thread is going to be interesting to me or not.
Even as I type this message, the Javascript/Ajax/whatever causes my cursor to freeze around once a minute and then splutter the buffered text into the text window. There are also occasional freezes when I try to scroll. (And it's not like I'm running this on old technology - I have the latest MBA laptop running FF 24.0.) When I visited this forum on my iPhone 4's Safari browser the post subjects go offscreen and I can't resize it. (Although this could be because I'm using a very old version of iOS - maybe the forum looks better on iOS 7, but haven't tried it yet.)
Although I don't post here a lot, I (used to) browse the forum almost daily for interesting news and posts. I hope it's still a work in progress, because in it's current shape I can't see myself visiting this forum that frequently anymore.
Just a (somewhat disgruntled) member's two "halalas".
