Miss Mimi, I never said the husband has to be excused for the slap. There has to be a retaliation from his wife to make him understand that this will not be tolerated. But a mere slap under such circumstances IMO doesn't call for a divorce especially when there are children to feed.
Anything more serious than this or repeated unprovoked offences of this nature would call for legal separation.
The law also has different rulings for cold blooded and hot blooded murders...so why not here. No husband in the world would lay his hands on his wife without extreme provocation.
