The Government of pakistan launched SMART cards few months back. The idea was to have one ID card for all and replace the NICOP, so overseas pakistanis will have one SMART CARD which will work both in and outside Pakistan.
Similarly all residents of pakistan will also get the same card.
But heard some news later on that they have suspended the project coz of some operational issues with the production/lamination being outsourced to a UK based company.
