Dr Sam yes its a natural instinct in larger Male cats to kill other Cats off spring to kill any competition. Like a leopard or a cheetah will go after Lion cubs and the lion will go after the Cheetah and leopard itself and its off springs.

Plus when one male Lion takes over a new Pride he will kill the cubs fathered by another Lion for two reasons as he wants only to pass his genes to the next generation of Lions and to bring the female Lionesses in to Heat.
