Each community and race has celebrations unique to their own and based on their faiths, beliefs, customs and superstitions!
My family, which is a merry medley of all sorts has witnessed all the different ceremonies over the years : church weddings, Hindu weddings, Buddhsit weddings, nikhahs and Walimahs, and simple receptions too.
My own wedding was according to the Islamic tradition which included a simple family only registration and nikhah and then three days later a grander Walimah.
